Take the time with your family to think through how to handle emergencies but don’t stop there. Is your community prepared for a long term black out? Are your local emergency responders equipped for more than a week? A month? What about your state?
The government does not have a plan for the loss of water treatment after three months. Will law enforcement function when food supply becomes scarce? Prepping is one response. Prevention is better. Tell your electric utility company and your governor that the electrical reliability is great but you also want resilience.
