Trump New (National Security) Strategy Requires a New Team
1 Minute with Frank Gaffney (click for voice)
"President Trump unveiled yesterday a National Security Strategy that bears an uncanny resemblance to the platform on which he campaigned for office. For those of us who voted for his pledge to restore the practice of peace through strength and American greatness, this is a most welcome development.
That’s because for the intervening year, Mr. Trump has been saddled with insubordinate subordinates who objected to much of his national and homeland security agenda. Having served in many cases in the previous administration, they were determined – the electorate’s direction notwithstanding – to act as though it’s Obama’s third term.
If Donald Trump means to keep his promised, dramatic course corrections on things like #Sharia-supremacism, nuclear deterrence, missile defense, and border security, he must replace #NationalSecurity Advisor H.R. #McMaster with someone who actually supports and will faithfully execute his strategy for American security and greatness." ... "Yesterday, Atlanta’s international airport had an electrical fire that affected millions of people across the country, most especially those who were trapped at Hartsfield in trains, revolving doors and without food or water.
Fortunately, that crisis only lasted 10 hours, although many among the traveling public will be affected for far longer.
Parts of Puerto Rico are still without power, however, three months after Hurricane Maria took down the island’s grid. Some there won’t get electricity back until Spring.
The Trump administration’s new National Security Strategy being unveiled today reportedly prioritizes securing the U.S. electric grid. After all, North Korea is explicitly threatening to use electromagnetic pulses to destroy it – unleashing a catastrophe that would make Atlanta’s and Puerto Rico’s afflictions pale by comparison. And no one may be there to help us.
This week, "a Sharia-supremacist from Bangladesh tried to kill innocent Americans in a New York subway station, reportedly because he was upset about Israeli retaliation for attacks Hamas launched from Gaza. Fortunately, he did not succeed in this jihadist ambition.
But we have created conditions in which it is surely just a matter of time before others do succeed in murdering large numbers of us in the name of Sharia. After all, as Conservative Review’s Daniel Horowitz has pointed out, just since 9/11 we have given permanent residency to more than 170,000 immigrants from Bangladesh. And over 1.8 million in total from 47 Muslim-majority countries. Fortunately, not all of these people embrace Sharia or seek to impose it on the rest of us. But it is reckless to let in more who might, and we need to counter those here who do." ... See MoreSee Less
